Each direction holds a specific energy, so it may not be surprising to learn that a north facing door offers different opportunities than a south facing door. To optimize the energy flowing towards your home, the door colour should align with the energetic signature of the door’s sitting direction. Selecting your front door colour with Feng Shui is actually pretty simple. Here is a summary of directions and corresponding colours.
North – mid-dark blue, navy blue or black. This direction enhances career luck and prospects.
Northeast and Southwest – natural wood and colours brown, yellow or earth tones. These directions influence relationships (SW) and the pursuit of knowledge (NE).
East and Southeast – green. This direction attracts luck through new opportunities and ideas.
South – bright red/purple/pink/orange. This door influences your reputation and love for life.

Get a compass (many cell phones have a compass app.)
From inside the house, line your feet and body parallel to the door threshold.
Take five steps backward, remaining parallel with the door.
While continuing to be in parallel to the door, hold the compass against your abdomen and record the direction. This is the door’s sitting direction.
Make sure to use your front door at least once in the morning and once at night. Energy cannot enter your home if the door remains closed!! You can also apply this method to other doors used frequently, such as the garage or side door.
